April brings the promise of Spring – new beginnings, flowers are abloom, the weather is perfect. It’s a time for self-reflection, the days seem a little longer, the sunsets a little more brilliant, and in Naples and Southwest Florida, it’s a time for giving back to the community. And who says giving can’t be a little bit of fun?
At PBS, April begins with planning a menu for our Master Grill Chef (who isn’t a chef at all) and his talented team of culinary artists to WOW the community at EGGfest. EGGfest, sponsored by Sunshine Ace Hardware to benefit local charities, is a family-friendly grilling event where local pros and amateurs put their Big Green Egg skills on display for the community to savor. PBS participates in this highly competitive, and incredibly fun event and has taken home a “People’s Choice” award every year. More importantly, this year’s event raised thousands of dollars for local charitable organizations.
For over ten years (excluding the COVID years), twice annually, the found of PBS, Russell Budd, fills a mammoth-sized smoker with pork butts, brisket, and sausage that cooks to perfection all night long, adds gallons of salads and sides, and invites a few hundred community leaders, industry partners, clients, and potential clients, friends, and family members for Russell’s Barbeque to benefit a local charity. No charge for lunch and camaraderie; just fill the jar with donations, please. This year’s Spring barbecue, appropriately titled “So We Meat Again”, raised over $7,000 for the Southwest Florida Holocaust Museum.
How many companies do this and more to benefit their community? Not many, but PBS does! We do it because it’s part of our culture because it’s part of our purpose, it’s who we are. Today I’m highlighting just a sample of the many ways we live our Purpose: Building Better Lives for our Team, for our Clients, and for our Community all year long.
